A BATHING APE (BAPE) was founded by Tomoaki Nagao or Nigo, or BAPE, in Tokyo, Japan, in 1993. The name itself is a play on the Japanese phrase “a bathing ape in lukewarm water”. BAPE has established a devoted fanbase and continue to cemented its position in modern fashion culture. The brand is known for its signature camo print, the “shark” hoodie, and collaborations with various brands, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Marvel, and Hello Kitty.
